    National Do Not Call Registry

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced an increase in fees for telemarketers accessing the National Do Not Call (DNC) Registry starting October 1, 2024, for the fiscal year 2025.

Here's a summary of the updates:

    Key points

    • Telemarketers are required to download the DNC Registry numbers annually to avoid calling registered consumers.

    • The first five area codes are free to download.

    • Certain organizations, such as some charities and political callers, are exempt and may access the entire list at no cost.

    Fee changes

    • Single Area Code Access: The cost will be $80 in FY 2025, which is an increase of $2 from FY 2024.

    • All Area Codes Nationwide: The maximum charge to any single entity for accessing all area codes will be $22,038, up from 21,402 in FY 2024.

    • Additional Area Code (Half Year): The fee will increase $1 from FY 2024 to $40.

Scrubbing numbers against the federal (and state) Do Not Call registries is an essential practice for maintaining regulatory compliance and avoiding fines for all companies making outbound calls to consumers.
